Objectives

To work as part of a cross-functional team providing specialist professional advice and interventions. To represent the Pensions Regulator's legal views to internal and external parties and to actively participate in commercial negotiations.

Roles & responsibilities

  • Providing legal expertise to cases
  • Providing technical information for the development of external guidance on precedents and application of rulings
  • Supporting effective negotiation and arbitration for disputes concerning setting of appropriate recovery plans
  • Negotiating with trustees, actuaries and employers in respect of recovery plans
  • Escalating high-priority issues as required
  • Identifying and developing relevant improvements to team processes
  • Contributing to knowledge management process

Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in pensions law
  • Corporate insolvency and restructuring experience
  • Experience of corporate mergers and acquisitions
  • Experience showing a broad commercial awareness - banking and investment markets, products and risks

Qualifications

  • Solicitor or barrister qualified to work in the UK with at least three years' practical experience
  • Graduate BSc/LLB/BA (Hons) Degree or equivalent
